刘永雄，男，1980年出生，在职材料学博士。2003年湘潭大学金属材料工程专业本科毕业，2008年湘潭大学材料学硕士毕业，同年留校工作。本人长期进行合金热力学与合金设计方面的研究工作，围绕热浸镀锌，在热力学分析、相图测试、热浸镀锌工艺控制和合金设计等方面展开了系列研究，参与解决了镀锌过程中的几个基础和应用问题。多年来，作为主要成员完成了4项国家自然科学基金课题及教育部重点课题，积累了丰富的管理和技术经验。
在SCI收录杂志上以第一作者发表论文一篇，申报专利一项，以参与者身份发表SCI论文多篇。对该领域的发展现状有较为深入的了解，在相图研究及热镀锌方面具有较好的理论基础和科研能力。
